Import Tuner Magazine has installed and tuned a set of Kelford 179-A Camshafts for Honda K Series engines with some awesome results!
Article Excerpt: The Kelford Stage 1 cams might be advertised as a mild cam, but deliver like a race cam, offering good response and lots of power through the entire rpm range. Asking Erick his impressions of the cams, he had this to offer: "Factory cams begin to lose power after 7,800 rpm but these cams want to make more power, even past our final 8,698rpm run. I wouldn't be surprised if they made more power past 9,000rpm."

KELFORD CAMS - CANTERBURY EXPORT AWARD WINNER
At the Canterbury Export Awards 2010 it was announced that Kelford Cams are the winner of the Small to Medium Exporter of the Year category. Kelford stood out amongst a highly competitve group of successful Canterbury business to take the prestigious award.
OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE
Kelford Cams Wins the 2010 Canterbury Small to Medium Exporter of the Year Award.
On Thursday 1st July 2010 the Air New Zealand Cargo Canterbury Export Awards were held at AMI Stadium in Christchurch. (We were entered into the Small to Medium Exporter of the Year category).
“This year there was an increase in entries in the ‘small to medium exporter’ category, (under 20 full time employees) which is promising for future export growth. With only 600 New Zealand companies contributing 91% of all our export, recognising the efforts and encouraging smaller companies to grow is vital to the future of New Zealand’s growth.”
The general comment by judges has been around the high calibre of entrants. Export New Zealand Canterbury Chairman, Kent France says “The awards recognise the recipients as leaders in manufacturing and the smart application of technology.”
Five years ago we planned to export our Japanese performance camshafts to the world because no one in the market was doing a very good job of it and we knew we could beat them on the race track. Today we dominate that market in USA, especially in the top level drag racing scene.
So the for the planning, investment and hard work to be recognised with this award is very special to us and it backs up the fact that it doesn’t have to come out of the U.S.A. or Japan to be a superior product. This is a win for our loyal NZ customers, tuners and engine builders that have been with us along the way.
The future is exciting for us. We have lots of new product development underway including implementing a complete tool steel cam production line so that we can release our own brand of MotoX and Jet Ski camshafts. |

We are extremely proud of the fact that we have been supplying racers with camshafts and related products for 40 years, Founded in 1968 by Norm Kelly and Ron Rutherford and powering from 2008 into the future by Kevin Ban and his team of skilled camshaft engineers.
To celebrate we have comissioned local artist Steve Welford to create a celebratory logo for us. This will be unveiled soon and will be available on limited edition race wear built by our friends at Sport & Uniform. We briefed Steve on what we wanted this design to say, and he simply 'got it' right away and has come up with an incredible design that really portrays what we are about....watch this space. |
